BETTER THAN A DREAM

Passage: Psalm 126:1–2

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed. Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy.
Psalm 126:1–2, NIV

When the Lord turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream. Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
Psalm 126:1–2, KJV

TODAY’S WORD
For seventy years the Israelites had been held in captivity by the Babylonians. The Scripture says they sat down by the rivers of Babylon and wept. Their hearts were too heavy, the pain too real, and the suffering too great to sing the songs of Zion. But God did not leave them in that broken place, that wounded place, that lonely place. He used the king of Persia to free them and to return them to their homes. Imagine the Israelites back home in Jerusalem, laughing with their families, singing songs of joy. These were the same people who had thought their suffering was permanent. Now they were not only free, but they were filled with laughter. Their joy overflowed. That’s the way God is. When you go through a season of suffering, sadness, heartache, and struggle, He is going to restore you with songs of joy. You’re going to laugh more than you’ve ever laughed. When you see what God does, it’s going to be like a dream. You’re going to be amazed at how God will take you where you never thought possible.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
“FATHER, thank You for the things You’ve put into my heart that I have to dare to dream can happen. Thank You that You do what seems too good to be true and restore my joy in times of suffering. I’m going to stay in faith and look forward to laughing in amazement. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
