WHEN THE PROBLEM LINGERS

Passage: John 5:5

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.
John 5:5, AMPC

And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
John 5:5, KJV

TODAY’S WORD
In John 5, the crippled man got up every morning and had his family bring him to the pool of Bethesda in hopes that he would be healed when an angel stirred the water. He came faithfully, but with no one to help him, someone else always got ahead of him. His problem became deep-seated and lingering. You can imagine his mind-set: “This is my lot in life, and it’s never going to change.” When Jesus came to him, He understood the man’s disorder, and in His mercy, He said, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.” Perhaps you’re dealing with a lingering problem that just won’t go away—an anxiety, trouble in your marriage, an addiction or sickness. You’ve prayed and stood in faith, but it’s not changed. God sees you at the pool. He knows the weight of what you’re carrying, and He’s headed your way. That problem that’s hindered you so long—the financial difficulty, the relationship issue, the insecurity—is about to suddenly turn around. God is about to show up and do something that amazes you.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
“FATHER, thank You that this is a new day and that right now You are about to do a new thing in my life. Thank You that You have a way to break through the negative things that keep me stuck. I believe that You see where I am and You’re on the way with freedom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
