YOUR REAL ENEMY

Passage: Romans 7:24–25

TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 7:24–25, NLT

O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans 7:24–25, KJV

TODAY’S WORD
Anything you defeat quickly is not your real enemy. You don’t have to be concerned with what you overcome in a short time. Your real enemy doesn’t go away overnight. You may not be tempted to be dishonest or do drugs, but perhaps being impatient or angry is a different story. David defeated Goliath in a few minutes. That wasn’t his real enemy. It was King Saul who tried to kill David for years. God could have delivered David from Saul in a moment, but God doesn’t remove some enemies. Some temptations and desires may not go away. If God doesn’t remove it, that means the grace is there to stand strong and deal with it. God wouldn’t allow it if it was going to keep you from your destiny. Ask Him to help you. Ask for His strength. Admit your dependence on Him, humble yourself and Romans 7:24 say, “God, I can’t do this on my own. I can’t defeat this, and it’s not going away.” God will step in and help you conquer what’s holding you back. You have the power through Jesus Christ.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
“FATHER, thank You that though there are areas of my life that are real battlefields, there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. I know You have grace for my every need and that You are changing me little by little. I humble myself before You and confess that I am completely dependent upon You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”ou have grace for my every need and that You are changing me little by little. I humble myself before You and confess that I am completely dependent upon You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
